Just Like Me! Book Box® was built on the foundation of exposing children of color to literature, characters, authors and stories that are reflective of them.
From logo redesign to 60,000 subscription boxes shipped
Tamara and I began working on a revamped logo for her company Just Like Me! Book Box® in early 2016. Once we completed the logo project, she became a monthly Creative Services client, and my first half-day accelerator participant.
In 2019, we added a revamped website to the JLMB portfolio, along with a refreshed and re-branded logo and marketing collateral.
Fun Fact: The Just Like Me! Book Box® logo is one of the first logos that I’ve produced that has received trademark protection.

Started with a Re-Brand
Prior to the launch of Just Like Me! Book Box® in July 2016, I was hired to design a logo and brand visuals suite.
During that process, we added monthly curation of promotional image for social media, graphics for the website, design of the initial subscription boxes, EPKs for general information and sponsorship, and other graphics as needed.
As the brand grew, there was some Operations consulting involved, as well as introducing JLMB to their publicist.

When you’re first starting out, DIY (do-it-yourself) can be helpful in that you get to learn when you should outsource functions and tasks. Having professionals on your side also helps you to navigate business goals and growth a little easier.
For JLMB, we review marketing goals on a quarterly basis and adjust as necessary. This time around, it was time to switch up the brand visuals to be more in line with what the data was showing.
On August 1, 2019, Just Like Me! Book Box® debuted its refreshed look which is now more cohesive from logo to promo graphics to subscription box mailers to website, and other materials.
